The Gulf Harbors Fishing Club members elected new officers for 2008 at the December 3, 2007 monthly meeting. Following are the new officers for 2008: Rick Green, President; Mike Grande, Vice President; Larry Lavin, Secretary; and Frank Rose, Treasurer.

Offshore Tournament Results

The Fishing Club sponsored an Offshore Fishing Tournament on Saturday, November 10,2007. The targeted species were Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel with Grouper as a secondary winner category. There were five boats with a total of twenty anglers registered for this event. There were no Kings or Spanish Mackerel entered at the Weigh-in.

A decision was then made to present awards for the largest Grouper at the Weighin. The largest Grouper (8 lb., 15 oz.) was caught by Arnold Hodgson of New Jersey is the son-in-law of Fishing Club member Bruce Amerman. The second largest Grouper (8 lb., 6 oz.) was caught by Kathy Trentch.

Prize money for the winners were presented at the December club meeting. Pictured below are President Rick Gruber and Kathy Trentch

The Fishing Club meets at 7:00pm on the first Monday of each month at the Gulf Harbors Civic Center. Most months there are guest speakers to discuss fishing or marine related topics. The club sponsors monthly door prize raffles. Pictured below are winners of door prizes at the December meeting.

The club is open to all Gulf Harbors Civic Association members. There are no dues to join the Fishing Club. We are always looking for new members. Please join us at the next meeting. Bring a friend!
